Editor-in-chief leaves the newspaper without any regret

Boy, am I glad this is over. Hours and hours of work, staying late in the newsroom on Tuesday's and Wednesday's, sometimes not getting home until midnight. The days were filled with problems with the newspaper, problems with computers, problems with people on campus, problems with other staff members.

EDITORIAL: Expensive books burn holes in students' wallets

As the prices of required textbooks often vary, one never knows what to expect come a new semester. Getting back the money spent on supplemental materials is as important as getting back a deposit when moving out of one's apartment. Being that nobody wants to make it easy on students by simply loaning out books, or putting materials online, or God forbid, providing free textbooks, hustling books to one another or selling these burdensome materials back to bookstores are what most students find themselves doing.

EDITORIAL: Congratulations to the graduating class

All good things must come to an end. This summer about 1,600 students will be graduating from EC. From those 1,600, roughly 650 will be participating in the graduation ceremony. Kudos to all those who have managed to get through college while juggling work, home and friends.

Cyclone victims suffer while the government turns its back

Tuesday marked the beginning of a three-day mourning period for those killed by cyclone Nagris' sweep of destruction two weeks ago in Myanmar. It is estimated that 78,000 people are dead. To add to that devastating number, 56,000 people are still missing. After a stubborn junta decision to reject help from other nations, as of Tuesday, the Southeastern Asian Nations agreed to set up an ASEAN-led taskforce for the distribution of foreign aid.

Staying in So Cal forever may not be the best

"I love Cali in the summertime." Yes, that is a verse from a famous rap song, but it is true. I do love California in the summertime. Who doesn't? The weather is beautiful. The beaches are the place to be. Nights are even as warm as the days. I have lived in the South Bay my entire life.
