Students worry over safety

Female students are exhibiting fear toward the attempted assault, which occurred Friday at approximately 6:40 p.m. According to campus police, a female student was walking to her car in the lower level of the Lot F parking structure while listening to music when an unidentified suspect came from behind, covered her mouth with their left hand and placed their right hand on her inner left thigh.

Solution to parking trouble within reach; students requested to take responsibility

At the beginning of the semester at EC, there is usually a big problem that students cannot solve, which is usually parking. Students have had an even tougher time parking now than in years past due to the reconstruction of Lot H. Because of the construction, students find themselves late for class; some even miss class because they simply cannot find parking.

Festival calls for peace on campus

Students gathered to celebrate peace and promote its message at the Peace Festival in the Marsee Auditorium Tuesday. Songs and speeches were presented to the students in order to promote peace and encourage student involvement toward peace Guest speaker David Smith of the Institute of Peace encouraged the importance of youth in advocating peace throughout the world.

Forensics prepares for the season

The forensics team has begun preparing for the new debate competitions and EC is striving to uphold its reputation as a community college Cinderella story. New coaches and new students will come together shortly and go through a learning process on their way to upsets and victories over some of California's elite teams, but that is what makes forensics unlike any other team activity on campus.

New ASO hopes to help EC go greener

Going green seems to be the new trend these days and Associated Student Organization president Megan McLean revealed that the EC campus will as well as ASO prepares to jump start the 2008 fall semester with new ideas. "We are very optimistic; we have some good officers.

Police Beat

August 28, 11:14 A.M. - A female student's cell phone was stolen when a black male grabbed the phone off a lanyard around her neck. She was walking west bound along the campus road, north of Lot B. The victim noticed a male black adult with a baseball cap and blue jeans walk next to her.

ECC to get evaluated on accreditation

Beginning on October 6, students and faculty members can expect visits from members of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, or WASC, in preparation for the upcoming accreditation evaluation of El Camino College. "Accreditation is something that in order for a public or private school to grant a degree or certificate they have to have federal accreditation.
