Yes: Employers belong in our online world

Employers should be able to look at an employees' Myspace or Facebook page because they have the right to know what kind of a person is working for them. Many people lie to their employers when they get hired to make them seem better than they are. Sometimes they lie about their level of experience, or maybe even their age.

No: Employers do not belong in our online world

Allowing employers unabridged access to employees' online profiles, such as networking sites, blogs, Web pages and other personal online media, is an invasion of privacy that could easily destroy a beneficial working relationship. There may be nothing wrong with the person's online information, but it leaves the potential for hasty generalizations.

Editorial: Sexual-assault workshops may not help

With EC sponsoring only two sexual assault workshops, fearful feelings across campus might not change much. While these workshops were not mandatory, having these workshops during the day might not have been a good idea. With one morning session and one afternoon session, many people who might have thought about attending these workshops more than likely were unable to, due to scheduling conflicts with classes, work, or other activities.

Bike riders and skateboarders need to weigh the pros and cons of the law that states that no person shall drive any vehicle or animal, nor shall any person stop, park or leave standing any vehicle or animal, whether attended or unattended upon the driveways, paths, parking facilities, or the grounds of any public school, state university, state college.

Imagine there is a show where a guy who looks like a Tim Burton directed Dr. Seuss character teaches open minded, mostly lost and confused men how to pick up women. Well the heavens have answered their prayers in the form of VH1's reality show, "The Pick-Up Artist" starring master pick-up artist Mystery as he teaches insecure men how to seduce the ladies.

The day this newspaper hits the campus, it will be my auntie Linda's birthday, and I wish her well. This year, however, my family will not be able to spend it with her. This past June, she became one of the many who passed away due to brain cancer. At times, I remember the hardships vividly, right down to the anxiety and the fear of all the possibilities that could come of her illness.

Victor Monge is the president of the Architecture Club. What is the Architecture Club? A lot of architecture students who get together to do competitions and community service projects. In April, our club is going to San Luis Obispo to compete. We also are doing some fundraisers now that we are an actual active club after getting with Inter-club Council.
