Every Saturday night quarterback Jimmy Coy is on the football field, he can look up to the stands and pick his father out of the crowd who flies from Chicago to California just to see his son play. This conjures images from Rudy except Coy has talent as well as heart.

With seven seconds to go in the fourth quarter on the EC two-yard line, Cerritos made their last attempt to win with the score 35-32 in favor of EC. Cerritos decided to go for it all, rather than attempting a field goal which would have forced the game into overtime.

Women continue to prepare for playoffs

The women's volleyball team continued its run toward the playoffs Friday night, sweeping L.A. Trade Tech in three consecutive games 25-10, 25-7, 25-9 en route to clinching the South Coast Conference championship. The women traveled to Mt. San Antonio College yesterday, but results were unavailable at press time.

Women start campaign off on low note

Although the EC women's basketball team finished 1-2 during the Glendale tournament over the weekend, their only win was highlighted by a defensive clamping of a southcoast conference rival which enabled them to send an early message that they are a team to be reckoned with.

Ask Warrior football coach John Featherstone what he thinks one of the most important aspects of college football is, and he will mention the sport's customs and traditions. Fight songs, a common and widespread tradition in college football, are laden with history; in singing a fight song, the crowd's excitement and involvement in the game intensifies and fans become part of a large, long-established ritual.

Sinclair uses experience in Navy to provide leadership

Aboard the flight deck of the USS Nimitz, 24-year-old Scott Sinclair finally found a focus and structure in life when he joined the Navy. His father is from the same part of Scotland that soccer coach Jon Britton is from. Sinclair has been playing soccer, football, basketball, baseball and ice hockey since he was five-years-old.

Men look to build upon last year

After a 20-1l, second place finish in the southcoast conference last season, the EC men's basketball team are putting their focus on shutting down the opposition. So far in this early season, the men are 1-1 with a win against Los Angeles Trade Tech college and a loss to West Los Angeles college.
