Congratulations to EC graduates

Graduation is the best closure a student can have with EC for whatever reasons brought them to school in the first place. For people who came back to school to get second degrees and to better their skills (and themselves), walking down Murdock Stadium signifies every accomplishment from the last semester or even three years.

EC doing all it can to fix warning

Reports from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) evaluation committee placed EC, along with several other community colleges, on warning Oct. 6, 2008 to correct nine "noted deficiencies." EC was required to complete two follow-up reports that established that EC is fixing the indicated problems.

Despite the natural occurence of body hair, American culture does not support its existence. Body hair can be characterized by long scraggly bushes or tendrils under the armpit, dark patches on arms, legs, torso and hair on the head. Unfortunately for those born with a unibrow, attention centers more on the unibrow than their personalities.

Paper dominated life, will be missed

I must admit that I am sighing in relief knowing that this is our last issue for the semester. After all, this semester has been a whirlwind for me, being the editor-in-chief for both the newspaper and the magazine on top of my 15-unit workload and job. With that said, however, I must also admit that I've learned more in this semester than I have in the three previous semesters at EC combined.

Staying immature can make life worth living

A century ago, when a person turned 20 they would have been considered middle aged. Back then, the average lifespan of a human was a mere 40 years old. However, by today's standards, dying at 50 is considered by society to be a premature death. Medical advancements have allowed humans to nearly double the average lifespan in just a century's worth of time.

Heed warnings and sidestep problems

I should have seen it coming. It all started yesterday afternoon when the lights in my house began to randomly flicker and dim. Now I am sitting here in the dark desperately trying to finish this column before my laptop battery dies. Not one person in my family decided to do anything about the flickering lights yesterday, and now we are stuck without electricity completely.
