Remaining vaccinations to be offered

With an unexpected turnout of 80 students that received vaccinations at the Free H1N1 Outreach Clinic held Tuesday, the Student Health Center has limited vaccines available for students to get. Originally, there were 100 vaccines available for students. Since all 100 vaccines were not used, students who were not able to attend the H1N1 Outreach Clinic have a second chance to receive the vaccine.

Women's Basketball Defeated in Last Quarter

On Wednesday, November 25, the EC Warriors suffered 18-point loss to the Irvine Valley girl's basketball team by 40-58. Warriors were playing strong in the first half when Tianna Coleman, #22, hit to three-pointers in a row, to give the team a good boost.

Proposal to bring major changes to campus

Fewer sections means less work for part-time instructors

Part-time instructors have been hit hard by budget cuts and it will get worse, said Lance Widman, the Academic Senate's vice president of finance and special projects, said. Because state income is not generating as much money in the recent economic downturn, EC has had to reduce sections across the board, which is why there will be fewer part-time instructors, Widman said.

Online students having less success than those on campus

Success rates, which are the percentage of students who pass a course with at least a C/P, are lower in EC's online classes than in on-campus courses, according to president Tom Fallo's newsletter. Some faculty members feel that one of the reasons why success is lower when it comes to distance education is because taking off-campus courses is not appropriate for all students.

E-Dollars are new form of disbursement

Nov. 12, 10 p.m. Officers pulled over a driver on Manhattan Beach and Crenshaw boulevard for the possibility of being under the influence. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the car. There was a small amount of marijuana in his pockets and sock. He was not under the influence while driving but given a citation for possession while driving with an illegal substance.
